The Strategic Partnership Process

This is a 6-12 month intensive coaching engagement designed to 
architect your advancement within your specific organization.



PHASE 1: ORGANIZATIONAL MAPPING & ASSESSMENT (Months 1-2)
 
We start by decoding how your organization actually works:
 
  • Power Structure Analysis - Who really makes decisions? (Not the org chart—the actual influence network)
     
  • Political Landscape Mapping - Where are the alliances, rivalries, and leverage points?

  • Cultural Norms Assessment -What are the unwritten rules? What gets rewarded vs. what's  said to be valued?
     
  • Your Current Positioning Audit - how are you perceived? Where are you strong? Where are you vulnerable
     
  • Obstacle Identification - What specifically blocking your advancement? (Visibility? Sponsorship? Political capital? Executive presence perception?)


PHASE 2: STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT & PLAYBOOK CREATION (Months 2-4)

We develop your customized advancement roadmap:

 
  • 12-18 Month Advancement Plan - Clear milestones, timeline, and success metrics for your next promotion
 
  • Political Capital Strategy - Where to invest your time, with whom to build relationships, which projects to pursue
 
  • Microaggression Response Playbook -Strategic frameworks for navigating bias without derailing your advancement

PHASE 3: EXECUTION & REAL-TIME COACHING (Months 4-12)

  • Bi-Weekly 60-Minute Strategy Sessions - Deep-dive coaching on current challenges, political moves, and tactical decisions
 
  • Real-Time Coaching Access - Access for high-stakes situations that can't wait for next session (That board presentation where you're the only Black person? We prep together.)
 
  • Quarterly Progress Reviews - Assess what's working, adjust strategy, recalibrate timeline
 
  • Promotion Preparation - When opportunity arises, we prepare: negotiation strategy,   compensation discussion, positioning
 
  • Continuous Strategy Refinement - As organizational dynamics shift, we adapt your approach

Step 3: Begin Strategic Partnership

We start with bi-weekly sessions and begin executing your customized advancement plan immediately. Most clients see tangible results (increased visibility, stronger positioning, new opportunities) within first 90 days.

Promotions typically occur within 12-18 months of beginning the partnership.

Common Questions

Q: Is this confidential?
A: Absolutely. Everything we discuss is confidential. I don't contact your employer or colleagues. This is your private strategic partnership.

Q: How is this different from therapy?
A: Therapy addresses emotional healing and mental health. Strategic coaching addresses organizational systems and career advancement. Both are valuable, but they serve different purposes. If you need both, I can work alongside your therapist.

Q: Do you work with people outside Washington, DC?
A: Yes. All coaching is virtual (Zoom), so I work with Black executives nationally. Being former State Department, I understand federal agencies particularly well, but I work with clients in corporate, nonprofit, and academic PWIs across the country.

Q: What if I don't get promoted during our engagement?
A: Promotion timing depends on organizational factors (open roles, budget, politics) beyond our control. What we CAN control is your positioning, visibility, political capital, and strategic moves. Most clients get promoted within 12-18 months, but if timing extends beyond our engagement, you'll have the playbook and skills to execute independently.

Q: Can my company pay for this?
A: Sometimes. If your organization has professional development budgets or executive coaching benefits, they may cover this. However, many clients prefer to self-fund to maintain complete confidentiality and independence.

Q: Do you offer group coaching or cohorts?
A: Not currently. I only work 1-on-1 to ensure completely customized strategy for your specific organization and situation.

Q: What's your cancellation policy?
A: We can discuss terms during discovery call. Generally, I require commitment to engagement duration (6 or 12 months) but can discuss flexible arrangements based on your situation.

Q: I'm not sure I'm "ready" for coaching. How do I know?
A: Book a discovery call. We'll talk through your situation and determine together whether strategic coaching makes sense for you right now. Sometimes the answer is "not yet" and that's okay.
